I think everyday we wake up and say, “Am I in God’s will for my life? Am I walking in His purpose?” Do you struggle with that sometimes? I know I do. Focus on knowing what we do is God’s will and not ours.
My Journey As A Business Owner
I’ve been a business owner for almost 7 years now. It’s been a journey of questioning and trying new things. There were times of frustration and wondering if this is where I’m supposed to be and if this is what I’m supposed to be doing with my gifts and talents.
I work with entrepreneurs all the time where I meet with so many different women who say they’re praying for God’s will in their life and praying that God would let them know what their purpose is.
I think we always strive to find that one purpose.
Walking In God’s Will Isn’t Supposed to Be Easy
At times we really want to be in God’s will and we want to feel like we’re there, but we want it to be easy.
When we’re walking in His will and in authority with the gifts that He’s given us, He gives us the grace to do it, and He gives us the strength and courage to do it.
In this journey of walking in God’s will, we need to stop praying for it to be easy or black and white.
How many times do you pray for God to take you out of a situation, or to take something away from you, or you don’t want to handle it anymore?
When you’re walking in God’s will, don’t always pray for the easy way out.
Instead pray, “God, I know You’re going to use this. I know You’re trying to strengthen me. I know You’re trying to get me to see a different perspective. Lord, what are you preparing me for? What can I use today, now, in this lesson?”
Sometimes in those moments when you’re praying to come out of it, are the moments He’s strengthening you to get through it. He’s preparing you for what’s to come.
Walking In God’s Will Grows Your Relationship With Him
The more we dive into His Word and grow our relationship with Him, the more we’re aware of how uncertain everything we do for Him is. We don’t have certainty when we’re walking in His will.
Uncertainty is what stops so many people from going after their goals and dreams.
God gives us many promises in His Word, but we focus on our own promises and fears and are unable to walk in the uncertainty with Him.
We have to be bold and courageous enough to step out and not do what everyone else is doing. We don’t have to watch what everyone else seems to be saying, or writing, or putting on video.
We need to say, “God, here is this passion you put on my heart. I am so uncertain with what I’m supposed to be doing with it. I’m so uncertain with where I’m supposed to be going, but I’m certain, with You, I can get there.”
When you’re in God’s will, the more uncertain you are, the more you’re probably heading in the right direction.
Writing My Second Book
I’ve been writing my second book called ‘A Worthy Wife’ and I often ask myself, “Am I supposed to be writing this?”
In the book, what I’m writing is going against what the world talks about. I focus on my own walk in becoming a wife and staying pure. I felt like the enemy was attacking me and I began to question what am I supposed to be doing? Am I supposed to be writing this book?
P.J.,my spiritual dad, said to me, “You’re in the right spot because you’re uncertain, but you know this is what you’re supposed to be doing. You don’t know what’s going to happen, you don’t know the outcome, but you know you’re aligned with Him.”
The most important thing is staying focused on Him.
Michele Myers says that obedience is success. I love that.
So many of us want to be in God’s will in order to find success. Yet, to me, when we’re in God’s will, we’re always doing the uncomfortable, we’re always being challenged, we’re always being strengthened, and we’re always going through storms.
We have to be willing to say, “God, you can use me, even if I’m scared and uncertain.” Put all your insecurities on the back burner, because when He’s calling you to do something, you need to be obedient. That is success.
Hold Onto His Strength
I want to challenge you today. If you feel uncertain, or you don’t have all the answers, or you don’t have all the resources, whether it’s money, tools, the computer, whatever it is, that you’re probably walking in the right direction.
The more uncertain and scarier the steps are, the more we hold onto Him and not our own strength.
Where you are right now, is in preparation for where you’re going. Everyday you can look at what you’re doing, as being prepared for something bigger than you. You have to remember you’re not here to serve yourself.
You’re here to serve others. You’re here to be like Jesus, to look like Jesus, and be an example of Jesus. You’re here to live out His word and His calling for your life.
We get caught up in wanting to know God’s will for our lives. We want to know our calling and purpose. We feel less than and think everyone else is doing something great for the kingdom except us.
No matter how big or how small, your race is your race. He has blessed your path. Nobody else’s path is like yours. That’s what you need to focus on in your own daily walk.
It’s easy to get distracted and feel like a failure. It’s easier than saying you’re victorious today, because you know that today you didn’t please yourself or other people. You know you’re here to please the One that matters.
I knew when I started writing my book ‘A Worthy Wife’, that there would be controversial topics in it. Some people might not agree with them, because of their worldly standards. I had to tell myself it’s already a success, because I’m being obedient to Him. I’m being obedient to the One who matters.
Everyday God is molding and shaping you, whether you’re raising your kids or working on becoming a wife. He wants you to focus on Him.
The more we focus on God, the more we become aligned with His will.
Grow Your Relationship With God
If you feel like you’re questioning yourself about being in God’s will for your life, the more uncomfortable, scary, and unsure you feel, the better. This is what will grow your relationship with Him.
Your relationship will make you feel confident and courageous. It will give you strength that you didn’t think you had before. You’ll know your strength is not coming from you, but from the Lord. That’s what matters.
Spend some quiet time with the Lord if you’re struggling with knowing what your purpose is.
Pray and Act
Sometimes, if you’re always praying for God to show you your purpose, you just need to go out and act on something. Go out and do something that you’ve been putting off for years.
If it doesn’t work out you’re still going to learn something. And He’s going to be able to say, “You were obedient and here’s where I want you to go next.”
You have to stop waiting around for something to happen. I love prayer, but we have to put it into action too. They have to go together. You have to do something.
Go after your goals. Go after something that the Lord has been putting on your heart, no matter how uncomfortable it is. This isn’t about us. It’s about Him, and giving the glory to Him.
Keep Walking In God’s Will
Don’t let the uncertainty scare you or make you feel less than, or make you feel insecure about where you’re going.
Just know you can press into Him. Keep walking in obedience forward. You’re never behind when you’re walking with God, even if you feel like you’ve taken 20 steps back.
