We sometimes forget how to live a kingdom life. We tend to think too much about our journey and how to build our success. We need to go back to the simple and basic principles when it comes to success and living a kingdom life.
Luke 9:1 He called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases.
Luke 9:3 Jesus said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money and do not have two tunics.”
We think we need all of our stuff together in order for God to use us.
If we think we’ve made too many mistakes, or have too many problems or we’re going through too many struggles, or we’ve had sex and lost our virginity, then we think we can’t be used by God because of all the terrible things we’ve done.
I was heart checked today by my spiritual dad. He said we often give the devil more credit than we need to because sometimes we put ourselves through those situations that lead us astray.
God Has Given You Specific Gifts To Live A Kingdom Life
God gave the disciples the gifts of power and authority over demons and to cure diseases. He gave them gifts just like He is giving you gifts to go out into the world to change people’s lives and to inspire people.
He told His disciples to take nothing with them.
You don’t need:
- all kinds of money in the bank
- a perfect body
- a perfect relationship
- a perfect business
- a husband or wife first
- a college degree
It doesn’t matter if you’re single, divorced or married.
What matter’s the most is where your heart is with Jesus.
He’s calling you to go.
Jesus gave the disciples power and authority and He told them to go with nothing.
The Plain and Simple Facts
In our own life we basically need to strip down to just Jesus and our gifts. We need to cut back on all the other distractions.
We think we always have to be perfect and there is no perfect. There’s only one perfector and He’s Jesus.
The simple message is we need to be who we are in Jesus because He’s given us the gifts and the talents and the ability. Plain and simple. If you’re struggling today go back to that simple fact.
Go back to who you are in Christ. Take everything else out of it. Take everything else you’re struggling with and let it go away. Even if it’s only for five minutes. Instead, think about your gifts, talents and your abilities.
Jesus sent the twelve disciples out with nothing else but the gifts He gave them.
He didn’t say here’s all this food, here’s where you’re going to stay or here’s all this money.
He said to take nothing on their journey.
Consider these points:
- Be who you are and not someone else.
- Don’t build a life based on other people’s goals and visions.
- Don’t wait until all your ducks are in a row.
- Take action when the Lord speaks to you.
Do you know what we have to do for God to use us? We just have to say I’m here, I’m ready. That’s it.
We have to have our hearts open and be obedient and surrender whatever is going on.
The things you do for God will matter in heaven.
You’re going to work for hours and you’re not going to see any results for it. For eg. when I talk on periscope, I don’t see anyone’s face. I can see hearts and comments but I will never know the full impact the words I say may have. God is the only one who knows whose life is being changed by what I say.
We often let our actions be dictated by results, so if we don’t see results we stop.
Your relationship with Jesus and your gifts and talents is all He needs in order to use you. Nothing else matters.
In the end, it’s how we’re affecting the kingdom and how we’re bringing other people closer to Jesus.
You Don’t Need to Fall into the Same Trap I Did
I’m so guilty of falling in the trap of thinking I need these certain numbers first in my business or even my body weight, or I have to reach a certain goal first.
I want to be a leader in the church. That’s been on my heart and I don’t feel qualified to do that. I’ve never read the Bible front to back. I’ve never gone to seminary school, but none of that matters.
Jesus qualifies you for your life.
The things that I’ve tried to make important aren’t important.
Jesus sent His disciple out with power and authority and nothing else. He didn’t tell them how many lives they were going to change, or how many people needed deliverance from demons. He didn’t say here’s your to-do list or here’s everything I expect from you.
They only needed Him and then they used their gifts and abilities.
If you’re trying to start a new business or if you’re trying to lose weight, there’s nothing in this world that can stop you or hinder you except yourself and what you allow the enemy to have control over.
If you’re struggling or feeling inferior, just strip it all away and say to God here I am and surrender to Him.
How do You want to use me? How do You want to use this situation for Your good? How can I bless others today?
Ask the Lord to use you today and to show you how strong you are in your own gifts and abilities.
