These 3 Healthy Habits Will Help You Stay Focused In Your Business And Everyday Life
You can use these 3 healthy habits especially in a time when you might feel frustrated or angry or you’re not feeling confident. Do them everyday.
1. Reach for the Word instead of the world.
This was something I had a hard time with. I had to stop reaching for my phone for instant gratification.
Our cell phones come with us everywhere. It’s easy to start browsing while waiting at the grocery store or waiting in the dentist or doctor’s office. Even riding in a car. Whenever there is a down second what do we reach for? Cell phones! We want instant gratification. We want to see if someone is responding to something we posted in social media.
WHY do we do that?
We want that instant gratification to feel needed or wanted or special.
When we reach for the world we are really reaching for someone to validate us in order to feel worthy, or feel like someone cares about us.
A healthy habit that I adopted was to stop reaching for the world. If I’m having a bad day, I’m not going to go complain to my friends or my family. I’m not going to complain online. I’m not going to involve all these other people in situations when I don’t need to.
I need to go to His Word and focus on why I feel this way. Why am I having these emotions. Why am I frustrated. Why am I upset. Why am I dealing with this.
Where should you go when you have a problem to solve?
The Word of God. God has a solution for every problem you’re facing. If you’re sad, depressed, angry, lonely or unfulfilled, only God can fill you up and satisfy you.
We have to make it a point to reach for His Word versus reaching for what the world says about us or what our cell phones are going to give us. Half the time when we open our cell phone we are not feeling great. We instantly compare ourselves and we already feel less than other people.
Your cell phone is not the place to go to feel fulfillment.
2. Make sure your relationships come before riches.
This is something the Lord is teaching me. Riches can mean anything. It can mean your job or a certain amount of money in your bank account.
If you lost all your material possessions, you will still have your relationships. You will have those people who are really close to you.
Don’t be so focused on your possessions, but focus on the people in your life and how they enrich your life. They are who will help take you from point A to point B.
When we are focused on the riches part we tend to lose focus of the relationship part.
Relationships are what carry us. I always think we didn’t come into this world with anything and we’re not going to leave with anything.
A healthy habit is to think about what you’re choosing before you choose the riches. Are you focusing on what you have and what you’re losing instead of who’s right in front of you.
3. Don’t create deadlines for your dreams.
Do I believe in goal setting? Do I teach goal setting? Absolutely. But here’s what happens. So many people will set a date for their goal and if it doesn’t happen by that date they give up.
Don’t give up. Your life changes and God places new desires on your heart.
- Have a vision
- Allow your vision to change.
- Adapt and grow.
If you do those three things you won’t feel upset and like a failure.
Set goals but don’t lose sight of where God wants to take you. You may start on one path and realize it’s not the path you should be on.
You have to be flexible with the way God works. Even in my own life He is continually stretching me.
Allow yourself to be flexible especially with God.
If you put a deadline on your goals and you think they’re never going to happen, it will make you feel defeated.
I know God is on my side and He tells me to keep going. He tells me to just trust in Him.
I have to hold on to those words.
Healthy habits may take time to establish. Start slowly but start today and be encouraged in your progress.
