My Journey As A Business Owner
I’ve been a business owner for almost 7 years now. It’s been a journey of questioning, trying new things, failing so I can move forward and be willing to take a step without seeing the whole picture. There were times of frustration and wondering if this is where I’m supposed to be and if this is what I’m supposed to be doing with my gifts and talents.
I work with entrepreneurs all the time where I meet with so many different women who say they’re praying for God’s will in their life and praying that God would let them know what their purpose is.
I think we always strive to find that one purpose. That is where I believe a lot of us go wrong.
Our assignment isn’t about finding one thing that God wants us to do. It’s about saying, “God I am available and ready for what you have in store for me.”
Walking In God’s Will Isn’t Supposed to Be Easy
At times, we really want to be in God’s will and we want to feel like we’re there, but we want it to be easy.
When we’re walking in His will and in authority with the gifts that He’s given us, He gives us the grace to do it, and He gives us the strength and courage to face whatever it is that is ahead.
In this journey of walking in God’s will, let’s begin to pray for more understanding than God show me every detail before I decide to be obedient.
How many times do you pray for God to take you out of a situation, to take something away from you, or take you out of something you don’t want to handle anymore?
When you’re walking in God’s will, try to not let your focus be on the easiest way out. Again, I challenge you to go back to, understanding more of why you are going through what you are going through.
Instead pray, “God, I know You’re going to use this. I know You’re trying to strengthen me. I know You’re trying to get me to see a different perspective. Lord, what are you preparing me for? What can I use today, now, in this lesson?”
Sometimes in those moments when you’re praying to come out of it, are the moments He’s strengthening you to get through it. He’s preparing you for what’s to come.
Walking In God’s Will Grows Your Relationship With Him
The more we dive into His Word and grow our relationship with Him, the more we’re aware of how important it is to not worry about the A-Z but to be more focused on being obedient to the A. (Obeying the prompting of the Holy Spirit.)
Uncertainty is what stops so many people from going after their goals and dreams.
God gives us many promises in His Word, but we focus on our own promises and fears and are unable to walk in the uncertainty with Him.
We have to be bold and courageous enough to step out and not do what everyone else is doing. We don’t have to watch what everyone else seems to be saying, or writing, or putting on video. If you are doing this, it is only going to lead you to more frustration and the feeling of being lost in this world will only intensify.
Let’s pray, “God, here is this passion you put on my heart. I am so uncertain with what I’m supposed to be doing with it. I’m so uncertain with where I’m supposed to be going, but I’m certain, with You, I can get there.”
When you’re in God’s will, the more uncertain you are, the more you’re probably heading in the right direction.
The most important thing is staying focused on Him.
So many of us want to be in God’s will in order to find success. Yet, to me, when we’re in God’s will, we’re always doing the uncomfortable, we’re always being challenged, we’re always being strengthened, and we’re always going through storms.
We have to be willing to say, “God, you can use me, even if I’m scared and uncertain.” Put all your insecurities on the back burner, because when He’s calling you to do something, you need to be obedient. That is what success is in my eyes. Once you lean into His heart, watch Him bless it more than you could ever imagine.
We get caught up in wanting to know God’s will for our lives. We want to know our calling and purpose. We feel less than and think everyone else is doing something great for the kingdom except us.
No matter how big or how small, your race is your race. He has blessed your path. Nobody else’s path is like yours. That’s what you need to focus on in your own daily walk. (You can see that in Hebrews 12:1)
Know you’re here to please the One that matters. All throughout scripture, the focus is always on the one. It’s not on thousands at a time. It’s all about impacting the one. It doesn’t matter how many likes you have or followers you gain, are you thinking about impacting the one? When you focus on the one, it can create a greater impact than you could ever imagine. Others begin to witness the change because the one was the focus.
Every day God is molding and shaping you, whether you’re raising your kids or working on becoming a wife. He wants you to focus on Him.
The more we focus on God, the more we become aligned with His will.
Grow Your Relationship With God
If you feel like you’re questioning yourself about being in God’s will for your life, the more uncomfortable, scary, and unsure you feel, the better. This is what will grow your relationship with Him.
Your relationship will make you feel confident and courageous. It will give you a strength that you didn’t think you had before. You’ll know your strength is not coming from you but from the Lord. That’s what matters.
Spend some quiet time with the Lord if you’re struggling with knowing what your purpose is.
Crave His presence more than you crave anything else. The Holy Spirit is guiding you moment by moment not month by month.
Pray and Act
Sometimes, if you’re always praying for God to show you your purpose, you just need to go out and act on something. Go out and do something that you’ve been putting off for years. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t make sense to you, it’s not supposed to.
If it doesn’t work out and you think that maybe you heard God wrong, you’re still going to learn something. And He’s going to be able to say, “You were obedient and here’s where I want you to go next.”
You have to stop waiting around for something to happen. I love prayer, but we have to put it into action too. He calls us to work. They have to go together. You have to do something.
Go after your goals. Go after something that the Lord has been putting on your heart, no matter how uncomfortable it is. This isn’t about us. It’s about Him and giving the glory to Him.
Keep Walking In God’s Will
Don’t let the uncertainty scare you or make you feel less than, or make you feel insecure about where you’re going.
Just know you can press into Him. Keep walking in obedience forward. You’re never behind when you’re walking with God, even if you feel like you’ve taken 20 steps back.
